Every performer is apprehensive about stepping out on to the street, sax, guitar or whatever in hand. But the boys and girls of the Swing-Jugend, the Swing Kids of Nazi Germany in the late 1930s and 1940s, risked anything from an enforced haircut to imprisonment in the notorious Moringen youth concentration camp.
